Especially popular are the Villacher Fasching, the Villacher Kirchtag and the bike festival on the nearby Faaker See. These celebrations are a guarantee of a carefree time with the whole family. Thoroughly recommended, too, is the [Carinthische Sommer](https://carinthischersommer.at/), which takes place in Ossiach and Villach. It was founded back in 1969 and is now one of Austria’s most important music and cultural festivals. It gives international artists, ensembles and orchestras a stage and so attracts visitors from all over the world. Once a year Villach is also the setting for the famous “Honky Tonk” festival. Music fans pay admission once and can then visit all the participating venues in the city together with the bands performing there. Anyone who likes to walk in historical footsteps should definitely seek out the Römerweg in Warmbad-Villach, which according to popular tradition was laid out in Roman times. You will find it above the Napoleonwiese in the direction of Oberfederaun. Historians should definitely take a look inside the Paracelsushof. The house, with its Renaissance arcades in the courtyard, is regarded as a place where the famous physician and researcher Paracelsus and his father Wilhelm von Hohenheim worked. The façade is adorned with a memorial stone put up in 1896 bearing two marble portraits. Sports fans, in turn, are in good hands at the [Stadthalle Villach](https://villach.at/stadt-erleben/sport/stadthalle-villach).
